Personalized Alternative Education

This program is available to students who are in need of an alternative pathway to graduation. This pathway could include the gaining of credits while in the world of work. Earned work experience credits go toward the 12 elective credits needed to graduate. A work experience credit is defined by 110hrs of recorded work hours.

Students can also earn academic credits in a range of courses that will count toward the 18 compulsory credits needed to graduate. These credits are earned on an individual bases with the emphasis on the student to be an independent learner.

Students can have courses timetabled in the regular stream and also take Alternative Education credits within the school and in the world of work.

Students who participate in the Alternative Education can take their courses at the college or workplace level which could lead them to college and or the certified trades if they so desire.

The Alternative Education department recognises that not all students are able to succeed within the regular school stream and will benefit from having their academic needs and challenges met through an individually planned pathway to graduation.
