Welcome to Aurora High School.

We are committed to working with families to support student learning, achievement and well-being. Our goals are:

  • to continue the tradition of excellence in academics, personal growth and extra-curricular activities;
  • to develop within students a social consciousness which includes mutual respect, acceptance and fairness;
  • to promote learning as a lifelong process;
  • to provide a welcoming, supportive and stimulating environment within a safe, clean and healthy setting;
  • to provide an orderly atmosphere in which expectations are clear, concise and fair;
  • to communicate effectively with students, parents/guardians and the community; and
  • to recognize the contributions and achievements of staff and students.

As with each school in the York Region District School Board, Aurora H.S. offers a variety of courses that lead to university, college or workplace destinations.

Since its opening in 1972, Aurora High School has served the Aurora community and surrounding areas for almost 50 years! The current school population is approximately 1070 students with upwards of 460 students enrolled in the French Immersion Program. Aurora High School has a tradition of promoting excellence and maintaining high expectations for students. The school motto is “Nothing But Our Best”. In order to address the strengths and needs of students and to encourage them to do their best, the school offers an array of courses leading to a variety of post-secondary opportunities. Extra support for student learning is provided through the Special Education and Alternative Education programs.

Aurora High School was designed to accommodate the needs of students in a variety of programs. Facilities include: classrooms; science labs; computer labs; a gym and fitness centre; music rooms and a rehearsal hall; technological studies workshops (transportation, construction, design, computer technology); family studies labs; art studios; drama room; library resource centre; guidance office and cafetorium. Outdoor facilities include a track, beach volleyball courts, basketball court and two playing fields.

Students participate in our Bring Your Own Device program. the one-to-one device program will increase students' ability to collaborate, be independent, be technologically competent and use higher order thinking skills. 

Students are expected to bring their own device with them to school. In the spring, we will survey incoming students to ensure we have enough laptops to support any student who needs to borrow a computer from the main office.
