End of Year Reflections
As another school year comes to a close, we want to take a moment to reflect on all that has passed and all that lies ahead.
Graduation is always such a pivotal moment for our Eagles. It’s a time of celebration and pride, but also a little bittersweet. We’ve formed strong bonds with so many of our students, and while we’re incredibly proud of all they’ve achieved, we’ll deeply miss their presence in our halls.
This September, AHS will experience even more change than usual. As our Grade 12s move on to new beginnings and our newest Grade 9s join us, the Main Office will also be entering a new chapter.
We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to Ms. Cunningham, whose strong leadership and fun-loving spirit left a lasting mark on our school. We wish her all the best in her new role and know she’ll continue to inspire wherever she goes.
We’re also sending our warmest wishes to Ms. Piques as she enters a well-deserved retirement. Her dedication, wisdom, and kindness as Vice Principal will be missed more than words can say.
A big thank you goes out to Ms. Rowland (Budget Secretary), Ms. Altieri (Guidance Secretary), and Ms. McCourt (Library Technician) for all their behind-the-scenes magic, their care for our students, and the joy they brought to the building. As they head off to new adventures at different schools, we hope they carry with them the love and appreciation of their AHS family.
Saying "see you later" is never easy, but the time we've spent together has been meaningful and filled with love. For everyone leaving — staff and students alike — please remember: Once an Eagle, always an Eagle.
To those returning and to all the new faces joining us in the fall, we’re excited for what the future holds. The office will look a little different, but our commitment to this incredible school community remains the same. We hope everyone is having a safe and happy summer so far! A quick reminder: the Main Office is open Monday to Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. during the summer months. If you plan to stop by, please refer to our community calendar or call ahead, just in case of an unforeseen closure.
Wishing you all a joyful, laughter-filled, and rejuvenating remainder of the summer.

Do you need tech?
In order to fully integrate technology and student access into our grade nine curriculum, we participate in a Bring Your Own Device program at AHS. Our aim is that students use a device, such as a laptop or tablet that they can type, search, research and collaborate with others on. We will have access to a Chromebook borrowing program for students who cannot bring a device to school. if you anticipate needing to borrow a Chromebook and have not already done so, submit a request at https://bit.ly/AHSBYOD.
Grade 9 Welcome Day
We’re rolling out the red carpet for our newest Eagles! On Tuesday, September 2nd, Grade 9 students will be the stars of the show with a full day designed just for them—no other grades will be in attendance.
Students will connect with staff and student leaders, explore the building, attend fun orientation workshops, and even get a sneak peek of their new classes. Parents/guardians are invited to join us in the morning for a welcome session and a chance to meet their student’s teachers.

For just $20, students will receive a Grade 9 spirit t-shirt and enjoy a BBQ lunch with their new classmates and senior student leaders! (Lunch includes a beef hot dog, hamburger, or vegan/gluten-free patty, plus a drink and snack.)
Please visit SchoolCashOnline to make your selections and submit payment by 11:59pm August 4th.
Let’s kick off the 2025–2026 school year with connection, spirit, and celebration! We can’t wait to meet the graduating class of 2029!
Yearbook Pickup
This year, we're returning to our tradition of distributing yearbooks in the fall! Keep an eye out for announcements and social media updates when they're ready for pickup. Typically, this happens around Thanksgiving weekend, giving us a chance to catch up with all our grads during reading week. Stay tuned for more details as we get closer to distribution time!
Student Medical Updates
We know September can be a busy time for families — between work, school, & maybe multiple kids, those back-to- school forms can pile up fast! If you'd like to get ahead of the game, you’re welcome to complete and submit any applicable student medical forms now. Completed forms can be emailed to aurora.hs@yrdsb.ca. The full info will be shared again in our September start-up communication, but early birds are more than welcome!
